Maj Kim Patterson I was in the boonies of Vietnam when I heard that we had landed on the Moon. This Moon landing would eventually lead me to a 33 year career on the Space Shuttle program.

Maj Kim Patterson - I have been in the Shuttle Mission Simulator, walked around the Shuttles, but never seen the inside of the cockpit or payload Bay of a Shuttle.. I worked in Houston, and went to Florida for three launches. One launch was delayed but I was able to see two launches including the last launch, Atlantis in July, 2011.

Maj Kim Patterson - It was awesome and fills you with pride. I would have loved to be an Astronaut.

I remember being in a dark place and suddenly seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. When I came out, I was naked and this guy picked me up by the feet and slapped my bare butt and I started crying. Ok, so I don't remember all that, but that is where I was on July 20, 1969.
