I am a kidney donor. I had absolutely no out of pocket expenses or travel expenses. The Federal Government provides living donors 30 days of paid leave, of which I used.
I dont think cost is the obstacle, rather it is a lack of education. We need more education across communities, especially targeting people of color, many who, justifiably, do not trust the health care system.
If we take away the fear of donation and educate the public about how they can save a life, potentially many, maybe then more people would think about becoming donors.

I agree with you. Davita makes a lot of money based on inefficient organ transplant policy which keeps their clients using their costly dialysis machines
