Hurt the party? I think it will hurt the entire country; this will cause the national debt to continue to rise.... We had a great plan to balance the budget.... this will hurt Republicans just as much as Democrats, this will hurt everyone.... more debt.....

1SG Jason Hastings - It's simple, we were going to make people pay a fair amount of taxes, the same amount as DJT for people earning under 400K, and the same amount as George W Bush for people earning over 400K. To get the 1.7 trillion dollar package passed, Democrats made a deal with the Republicans and leave DJT's tax code the way it is and not raise taxes on people earning over 400K.

I mentioned Trump and Bush because Trump's tax plan is the one we are using now and it looks like we may keep using. I mentioned Bush because Joe Biden wanted to change Trumps tax plan for people who earn over 400K to Bushes plan, but the GOP wants to keep it all Trumps plan.

All of this ^^^ doesn't balance the budget. It merely keeps this massive spending package revenue neutral (in theory - but even that claim is dubious due to accounting tricks - like taxes for 10 years to pay for a program set to expire in 5). It does not actually balance the budget, which is currently in deficit spending.
