My apologies for questioning your comment but SFC George Smith, what kind of diseases can facial hair cause, also if that is the reason why are we allowed to have a mustache?

it is easier to set guide lines for a mustache than a beard, with the being said i would think not so much disease but other forms of parasites, ticks and what not. The biggest factor though is you gas mask, proper grooming standards are in place so that a proper seal for your gas mask can be established. How is looking good or how much is god going to help you when it's not sealed properly and you inhaling what ever toxin is in the air. Also a mustache won't affect a proper gas mask seal.
