The costs of Medicare-for-All are beyond anyone's wildest imaginings. If you look at a graph of healthcare costs in America compared to inflation, you'll find that the two rose almost parallel until Medicare was enacted into law. At that point, healthcare costs spiraled wildly, beyond anyone's expectations. Now, allow me to make it personal. Just prior to retirement, my wife and I had a PPO healthcare policy that cost us approximately $750/month. We paid small deductibles and copays, and doctors received 100% of the amount they billed from our insurance company. Under Medicare, we pay almost $700 per month (Part A is "free", Part B costs each of us just shy of $100/month, our combined supplemental insurance costs us approximately $400 per month, and our combined prescription benefits programs cost another $100+ per month. Our doctors receive approximately %18 of the amount they bill for all services, and have to bill non-Medicare patients higher to cover the money they're losing for treating us. Now, imagine Medicare-for-All, with doctors receiving on %18 of all costs they bill. Doctors will abandon their practices and healthcare facilities will close (even more than they are today), thus driving costs even higher (that is, of course, if you can find healthcare at any price)
