We lost sight of this truism in Nam. Too many good men and women died because the White House and the Pentagon thought warfare was a parlor game. It is not. It is brutal and it has but two outcomes - win or lose.

Vietnam so much was wrong with our strategy there. Wanting this whole build up of troops and not giving them a clear direction on what the mission was and how to accomplish it so you get weird tactics like search and destroy and the body count war which is just madness.
