I'd expect the U.S. government stop producing pennies before it stops producing $100 bills.

Pennies have been such a waste of time for years now- there is much more of a need for the $100 Bill today than the penny ever was or will be IMO

Pennies will always be useful for making change, but there are probably enough in circulation that they wouldn't need to mint any more for a long time.
I have been to countries where prices have numbers smaller than the value of the smallest coin, because those coins aren't circulating in sufficient quantities if at all. They end up having to round up or down, usually to the benefit of the customer. It doesn't make much of a difference on any individual transaction, but over the course of a day with hundreds or thousands of transactions, it can add up.
