I know. Outside of RP, I'm hated. (And to be fair, there are some on RP who hate me) I'm a storyteller and history is our story. Sadly, many people don't want to hear it. Some are offended by it. A few attack me for telling it. I can't wait for the hate that will be generated by my latest installment.

So do I, and it gives me hope. We need to pull together, and not allow the deep state to divide us.

SSG Diane R. - yes indeed. People will have differences but we share more i common than we disagree about.

Good opinion read. I agree and disagree with several points. Yes we should be concerned with the divide and hate that exists in our country by various groups and facets that exist. We would also be ignorant to dismiss the root causes from over two centuries as a country still trying to find it's identity. This statement did bug me for one reason, the use of the word "justifying" in his hypothetical:
"How many black students and whites brainwashed by Identity Politics are going to sit there and listen to such a tale and not strongly protest the racist professor justifying white supremacy and slavery?"
The Lincoln example is one I agree with; slavery did not cause the Civil War but the abolishment of it would play a central role. A professor should expect to be labeled racist if he/she is justifying White supremacy and slavery; whereas, a professor should be labeled controversial if he/she argued the role White supremacy and slavery played.
Also agree the Confederate statues shouldn't be perceived as representing the White supremacist culture but it doesn't help when those are the groups that show up to defend those statues.
