There was one that was one in which a kid pulled the trigger on a SRO's pistol while it was in the holster. Technically a school shooting, but a far cry from Parkland. If they want to be taken seriously, they cannot include incidents like this in their statistics. It just points to deliberately trying to pad the numbers to make things look worse than they are.

Exactly. I was surprised when I saw that there have been 2 school shootings in Mississippi as I had heard of neither (and I live 20 miles from one of them). When I looked at the details it made sense. If you want to talk about stopping mass murderers, you have to exclude the accidents and incidents where someone simply premeditated to kill another individual for a specific reason.

Negligent discharges aren't a school shooting. Someone happening to get shot in a school parking lot - big difference than Texas today or Florida or the others. That's why I hate when CNN pushes this and uses their parameters.

There needs to be a rational discussion of the problem with people of good will coming together to solve it. However, players like CNN muddy the waters with their narrative and agenda, and we're lost in the midst of a significant percentage of the population milling about screaming hysterically

A few of the events that CNN and others call school shootings include things like a bullet fired in a neighborhood that passed though school property. One, a ND as you mentioned, was an off duty part time cop who popped a round in the school bathroom. Allegedly an accident but not a school shooting.
The left clings to anything to demonize an object while drunk and distracted drivers and abortions kill hundreds of thousands a year.
Selective outrage in my opinion.

It is not "the left." There are different parameters on many different sites and groups on both sides. This isn't a "left" thing.
