It seems like many other nations get a lot more bang for the buck than we do. Note the Ruskies with 44.7B listed as #2 whereas the US #1 manages to spend almost $600B? What's going on here.. Even the Chicoms only spend $161B..

Capt Tom Brown - this also doesn't appear to be taking into account the hundreds of billions that doesn't go directly to the DoD, but also to the private/contracted to other than DoD military industrial complex.

Readiness is a component as well as schooling; big costs are due to programs and some mismanagement for sure!

Interesting group! I hate to attack our stellar Military-Industrial complex, but I think we could get more "Bang" for our but if we weren't greasing palms and paying cost over-runs on EVERY project. Maybe we could contract the Chinese to build our crap. It would save them having to resort to espionage to get the design plans.
Good post, LT!

Same here. We have definitely made an art of developing warfighters and the necessary tools to equip them, but I think we could have gotten much better deals. No more jokes about the Chinese loL! Can't handle it.

CPT (Join to see) Don't know if it's true or accurate...but had Obama not held back and cut back on upgrading the military and equipment...I'd say we are about 8 years behind. Hopefully, Trump will get us back into or close to lead status...and upgrade everything so our troops and country have a fighting chance...if it comes to that.

Sgt Kelli Mays We are in the lead, but we are not in the lead in terms of return on investment of capital. I hope that we get "better deals" under President Trump and these come with a balance to the budget instead of gross overspending. We shall see :)
