"Light Tank". Sounds like an oxymoron. Three things decide what kind of tank you will build: Firepower, Mobility and Survivability. You can't have all three equally. The M1 series tank was built with the priority of Mobility, Survivability and Firepower. We needed to move around a fluid European battlefield and survive. The main gun would take care of itself. The Israeli Merkova was built with the priority of Survivability, Firepower and Mobility. They needed to survive enemies more numerous than them, and the kill them with the first shot. Mobility would be less important. So, looking at this "tank" in the pic, what's the order of priority? It is designed to support light infantry. So, even with the M1 series 120mm main cannon, it won't survive a tank on tank battle, so it cannot be deployed in a "heavy" environment. It has formidable firepower. But at 28 tons, it is 9 tons heavier than the Stryker. My recollections of being attached to light infantry is that their logistics system could never keep up with our fuel, parts and ammo needs, even if we brought our own support with us. Not sure what the point of this vehicle is......just sayin'.....
