"No more precious thing was ever given, than he who would lay down his life for his brother."
Each and every one of you, I would take a bullet for, if it would save your life. I value any of you more than myself, or 50 of these SOBs.

1SG (Join to see) Ahhh Top. (I hope that's correct. An Army member recently made fun of me for getting Army ranks wrong. I mean no disrespect). I am old, washed up. My time has come and gone, and sadly, I didn't make the best of it.
Save that bullet-taking for someone younger, more productive. Better still, avoid it all together. You represent the best of us all. I think you'd do us all much more good if you dispense your wisdom, commitment to duty, and humbleness.
As a life-long Sailor, first in the Navy, then MM's, there's probably not much I could offer a ground-pounder. But what I can, I would. For what words are worth.

The United States was badly defeated in Iraq. Thinking anything else is dangerous.
Anyone who thinks differently should get the Maurice Gamelin Award for operational and strategic excellence.

The people of Iraq suffered under Saddam, under the UN sanctions from the '90's onward, from OIF and on until today. There really isn't an Iraq now.

1SG (Join to see) - I definitely recall from 1991 the media saying that 100,000 Iraqi soldiers were killed in Desert Storm.
Some months later I saw a small blurb that said US Army graves registration buried 1,667 Iraqi soldiers.
All those figures are suspect.

Capt Walter Miller, while reliable estimates are hard to come by for Operation Desert Storm, everything I can find is between 20 and 35k Iraqi Army killed. That figures pretty well with the amount of equipment destroyed. Iraqi remains found in Iraq would have been dealt with by Iraqi assets. While I don't know this with certainty, it is probable that handling Iraqi remains would have been deferred to Arab allies for cultural reasons. That is the most likely explanation for the disparity in numbers.
