I'm as much a traditionalist as the next guy and would shed a tear to two to see the Ma-Deuce retired, but this looks promising. Well, all but vehicle mounted roles. It seems the Ma-Deuce still provides a significant advantage so long as you can deliver it to the battlefield with sufficient ammo

the MA-2 is one of the Longest Lasting an Infantry and Ground support weapons in the infantry and other supporting Operations... ... and they Still work... and with the advancement of munitions it will continue to be a prominent feature on the Mobilized battle fields...

While the .338 LM might be an upgrade from the 7.62x51, it is no where near the .50 BMG in terms of power. The .50 has almost 4 times the energy of the .338.
Yes if you have to carry everything the .338 LM is a good compromise giving better performance than the 7.62 at about the same weight, but if there is a vehicle anywhere nearby the M2 will still be the better choice.
I don't see it replacing the M2, I could see it replacing some M240's.
So Ma Deuce is not headed for moth balls anytime soon.
