A lot of things short change voters or have been modified in questionable ways.
Look at the end of the civil war reconstruction period. The only way the then southern democrats gained control was through clearly illegal acts. Laws they passed still negatively effect the country close to 150 years later.
No one has ever questioned the legality of the laws passed by Southern Democrats simply based on their illegal acts to get elected
Much of our Judicial system I believe has been corrupted by it.
