Interesting proposition supporting the waste of money and manpower, as opposed to using lessons learned, material, and training facilities that we already have, that apparently have not been utilized or upgraded much in the past 20 years or so. (;-))
Though the author 'served' in the Infantry for 20+ years, after reading some of his other articles, I am starting to wonder if MS Office and a PC are his weapons of choice.

SSG Robert Webster seems to be a common occurrence these day, eh? I think the only one I could agree w/ - makes sense - is the binoc attachment for daytime use in place of the NVG attachment on the helmet. Of course, it then becomes the ever-hated one more piece to lose.

SFC Jack S. - To whom is your comment directed? Did you notice the winking smiley face emoticon? I retired in 1996 and MOUT training had been a priority for years at that time. I can even remember when Urban Combat Assault Kits were being updated and marketed through outlets such as 'Ranger Joe's" and 'US Cavalry Store." Even though MOUT training has been a priority since the end of WWII, it has had its ups and downs. Unfortunately due to the drawdowns in Europe much of the long term institutional memory has apparently faded away.
But to correct one item, the article was published this year and its predecessors on Urban Combat have been published between January and now. You may be confused by the date that he (MAJ John Spencer) was commissioned, which is 2001.

SFC Jack S. - You are quite correct. What is even worse is that some of these people have become far too pervasive in governmental affairs.
