I wish they'd chip the damn things. Especially for retirees. It would make accessing their VA sites far simpler than the convoluted process they have now.

The Army Times and Air Force both say “It will be similar to the common access card used by military personnel and DoD personnel, without the chip”. SFC Michael Hasbun SFC Melvin Brandenburg

SFC Michael Hasbun - My wife got one recently... no chip. She is a dependent, I don't know if that makes a difference. But definitely no chip.

While it looks nicer should have spent the extra 2 cents to have them chipped like the CAC - but that's just for security purposes.

Agreed. Unless they’re going to chip them and making accessing all the different VA sites, I’m good with my blue card.

Damn, that reads like I’m drunk. If they add the chip and it makes accessing all the VA sites simpler, I’ll change. Until then my blue card is fine.
