Leadership is a choice anyone can be a leader, it's not about rank, it's not about yourself “It’s choosing to look out for the person on your left and to look out for the person on your right.” Leaders choose to put themselves and their ideas out for others to approve or ridicule. They choose to put others before themselves and the leader takes on the responsibility of knowing their failure will effect others. We call them leaders because they choose to go first. They do not allow others to be sacrificed for their success, instead they motivate and encourage others to have their own success.

Very good article but I have to disagree a little with your statement. Yes, being a leader is a choice but not everyone is leader material. Many have tried and failed miserably! Just my .02

I agree, we need the mentality of looking out for those on the left and right to permeate society again. Because some many of or citizens are able to choose not to go into our fine service they do not learn to think of others at times. We should create another service, for those that do not want to be a solider but still need to learn to think of those to the right and left, they can provide many jobs within the US while getting experience.
