Must be a weird situation for defense contractor folks. On one hand, peace is cool. But on the other hand, you get less in terms of defense spending increases...

I don't understand why US SPACECOM is not under the new Space Force.

Can someone please explain?

Because SPACECOM is a unified command combatan command, just like CENTCOM or EUCOM are; not a service command which Space Force is.

MAJ Javier Rivera Okay.

I guess I don't understand why there's a need for SPACECOM. With Space Force in place, why not just transfer and combine the relevant parts of the unified command under the Space Force umbrella.

Space Force, like the other services, is a force provider (man, train, organize, and equip) to the unified combatant commander (the one who do the fight).
