Time will tell if this nationalistic, populistic, isolationist approach leads to increased jobs without increasing costs of everyday products. More importantly, whether it leads to many of these countries trading more with China and less with US.

SFC Bernard Walko - Because some of his rhetoric and policies are similar to the American First Nationalist movement of the 1930-40s that supported an isolationist foreign policy. Whether his administration officially signs those kind of policies; we can only wait and see.

An agreement that poised 12 nations against China in the trade market is not a bad deal and could have been further improved on through congressional actions. Trump's renegotiating by saying "you'll deal with us on our terms or not at all; America going to import less and export more" is similar in ideologies of Pre-WW1 and WW2 America built on limited foreign policy. As stated before, will wait and see what his renegotiations do. TPP won't be renegotiated; another country perhaps China will replace the U.S. in that trade deal.

TPP was negotiated by an Administration with no practical experience in foreign trade and commerce. The next step is not to punish American businesses that move abroad but rather to provide incentives for them to stay of their own accord. Reduce regulation. Reduce taxes. Provide an environment in which they can produce and compete profitably.
