Charlie - there are hundreds of programs - but in large measure they (in general) are funding the kind of scientific, medical, and technology research that you make posts about all the time!! To answer that question - ask DARPA, Ask NIH, Ask CDC... or the Commerce Department, or the Energy Department...

The federal government only gives out funding when Congress and the WH determine that the federal government has a need (and Cornell was able to fulfill that need). The federal government is cutting off its nose to spite its face.

You can get that information from USASpending.gov. Here's a link*, filtered by their Recipient Identifiers, which shows all (current and expired/completed) unclassified awards, grants and direct payments to Cornell University.
