I 100% agree with the reduction of forces in Afghanistan. We've been working this for almost two decades, it's time to take the training wheels off and see if the Afghans can keep their bike upright.

The only people in Afghanistan that can seem to keep the 'bike upright' is the Taliban and I am ok with that. We have give the Afghanis nearly two decades to carve their own paths and they are not taking it. The Taliban should believe they allow something like 9/11 to happen again we will be in their shit again should keep them straight for sometime.

MAJ Byron Oyler - No one really wants the Taliban in charge. The people I talk to on a daily basis understand that the Taliban are the bad guys - they don't want to go back to that.

I think the government CAN keep the bike upright - specifically in the Kabul cluster. The rest of the country... harder to do. It will be on the individual local groups to keep the Taliban at bay in those areas. The problem is that there is no good way to keep people employed and with $. That's why they join the Taliban - it's steady income.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - I certainly agree they dont want the Taliban as the people I spoke with told me the same. Not wanting the Taliban and doing the work to keep them out seem to be very different efforts.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I agree. And, right now, I think the Afghan government IS capable of keeping the Taliban at bay - with the support of the people. Which is why I support a withdrawal.

You’re hilarious. Last time Trump Admin talked about withdrawing forces it was GOP like Graham and Trump’s appointed advisors that whine and complained. You really should be honest with your criticism. But yeah Corporatists like Schumer and Pelosi who take money from Defense Industry lobbyists would join the Republicans in their derision of any decision that would impact war profiteering.
