The intention is to have them be recruiting ambassadors. My concern is what happens if they get injured and can't serve their time?

At worst, they "blow out a knee." While they may never make it as a SEAL or Ranger, they can be admin, supply, and intel officers.

They should serve their service commitment first then go for the draft/NFL. If they are that good the NFL can wait.

I don't think the number of academy grads that would even be drafted is more than 5 a year (that might be high). I am not a huge fan of this approach. Slots at the academy are hard to get and many are turned away. Allowing someone to walk away from the commitment to get a pro athlete salary seems unfair. I know they say they will serve later, but that is not a given. We need officers in good health and in their prime years.

Cpl Jeff N. - It seems to be his standard response. At least he didn't YELL at you. (p.s. the number is maybe 1 a year)
