"She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified."
Well, I'm not holding my breath on that one, but we will see if the next nominee is indeed more qualified than:
-confirmed by the senate 86-8 for Commissioner of Labor Statistics 2024
-Lead Economist, Labor Markets, Center for Economic Studies, U.S. Census Bureau, 2010-2024
-Senior Economist, White House Council of Economic Advisors, 2022-2023 (on detail)
-Assistant Center Chief (acting), Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD), U.S. Census Bureau, 2018-2019
-Economist, Office of Tax Policy, U.S. Treasury Department, 2008-2010
-Economist, Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD), U.S. Census Bureau, 2002-2008
-Ph.D. in Economics, Virginia Tech

Job reports have been off, on average, by 40%, since the start of COVID. Understandable DURING the Kung Pao Sicken, but accuracy didn't return after. Consistently being that far off means changes in the labor market have rendered the old model obsolete. We don't need someone to operate the old model, we need someone to come up with a new one that's more accurate.

"That would've been less of a shock if you'd been following the "anec-data," that is surveys and stories from the real world about the state of the job market.
Glassdoor, the jobs site, has been tracking declining "employee confidence" all year.
In May and June, it hit record lows — with a sinking share of workers reporting a positive business outlook for their employer.
By the numbers: In June, only 43% of workers reported an upbeat outlook, the lowest since Glassdoor began tracking in 2016. Mention of "uncertainty" in Glassdoor job reviews spiked this spring."
