I think they understand that a shift in administration would leave them high and dry with no backup. Remember Falujah.
In mid 2003 they set up a police force and city government to work with the US. When we pulled the garrison out late in the year, hardliners killed those persons working with us, and in many cases their families, too.
We came back in and took the town with fierce fighting at the end of 2004, and yet again got volunteers to become police and officials in a friendly administration. Then we pulled out yet again in 2010/2011 (the one that allowed ISIS to rise), and all of THOSE people and their families were killed.
Considering our proven record, only an idiot would back us in the Middle East these days.

The FEBA for both sides has been a red line for awhile. Gaza. Hezbollah etc.
