We have been involved in Yemen for a long time, going after AQ in the Arabian Peninsula mostly with drones and a little SOF. Then the President gets bounced and Iran-sponsored Houthis run rampant. Saudis found that intolerable, and open up the whoopass.
So there are several things going on here. We were going to stay involved as long as there were AQAP ass holes to kill. The Saudis lack tanker support so we lend them a hand in that regard and intercepting arms shipments from Iran gives the Navy something to do besides fecklessly chasing Somali pirates around. Congress is trying to make a point to the Saudis about Kashoggi. All of those drivers don't really have much to do with one another.
We aren't going to disengage there.
Too many bad guys to whack.

LTC Stephen Conway And something we should be looking to disengage from right now - not stay involved in.

Pres. Trump got some splainin to do...ran on getting us out of needless/endless wars. I can only guess he elected to veto because we're not really involved and if he signed this bill, there'd be too much pressure on Saudi to hand over Yemen to Iran and the Houthi terrorists.

It’s not about the war in general, it’s about whose behind the Yemen Rebels- Iran is bring the war and providing weapons and their expertise, ha!
