I don't agree with a temporary ban on certain countries for security reasons, however I don't believe that temporarily halting new immigration or travel from some countries is unreasonable until more resources are in place to take a closer look at people coming from countries prone to terrorism. There are big problems with his order though...
1. It impacts US citizens with dual citizenship. Not allowing a US citizen to return to the US is just wrong. Forcing US citizens into exile is unacceptable.
2. It impacts legal permanent residents. Blocking legal permanent residents from returning to their home is also wrong.
3. Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen all have serious issues with religious extremism... however Saudi Arabia is notably absent. If we are going to target nations whose extremists pose a threat to this country, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan should also be on that list.
4. Religious extremists target people of any (or no) religious faith that is not their own. Showing favoritism to one religious group over others is seriously UN-American.

With only a few exceptions for diplomats and dual citizens, the order takes no account of whether travellers have already been issued with visas or have visited the United States before.

And that's a reasonable argument against dual citizenship. I can buy that. But for now it's law and as a nation of laws we shouldn't exclude people who are for all intents and purposes Americans.

MCPO Roger Collins - I don't agree with dual citizenship either, however that isn't the issue here. If Republicans passed a law that required all dual citizens to renounce either their US citizenship or their citizenship in another country I would applaud it.
