Fire them and systematically replace with others. It's one thing to organize over legitimate causes however, public safety should be a primary consideration here. I've seen a few diligent TSA employees but the vast (and can't emphasis vast enough here) majority I've "experienced" were apathetic, incompetent, and lacked any vested interest in security.

The air-traffic controller's strike 25 years ago left many of the strikers jobless and unable to return to the FAA after President Reagan banned them. The tension between the union and management of that era still affects American workers today.

Gentlemen, The truth of the matter is that MANY of the executives within TSA... the ones that are causing the very symptoms that you describe, are Prior service O-4 and above. The Security Directors and Screening managers have the people that you are hurtling stones at... by the proverbial stones. I'll be the first to admit that there are screeners out there that have no business in the job, but there are far more that do take the job seriously and do so every day. You want the change??, start with the top and before you get too far down, you will see the changes. Then again how easy is it to get a REMF removed to put a leader in their place?? I'm no fan of the union but let the blame fall beneath the tree that causes the problem(s). When you fix the leadership, the rest will fall into line, and don't fall for the trap of looking at a cat X airport (JFK, LGA, LAX, etc...) and blaming the rest of the force for their screw ups.

There was a move a few years ago to revoke TSA's contract and replace them with a more professional (and competent) organization. It's too bad that fell through as TSA continues to fail at their most basic charge of detecting weapons and dangerous & prohibited items to protect the flying public.
