It is slanted as if relates to global danger and not domestic. However the reasoning to my statement is in reference to the the safety that they neglect to account for. Their safety is a direct reflection of our foreign and domestic policies that protect their freedom.

True, however one's safety does not automatically mean that no unwarranted aggression ever takes place, either.

For example: our actions in Kosovo (legality notwithstanding) had no impact on our safety.

I think the problem ends up being two loud opponents scream at each other and the reality get's lost in the noise, and what I mean by that is you have one side saying "the U.S. is always meddling with other countries!" while you have the other side saying "the U.S. is also keeping you safe by limiting other countries' abilities to mess with us!"

It really boils down to sovereignty. Does the U.S., in some instances, challenge or circumvent another State's sovereignty when no demonstrated risk to our safety has occurred?

I'm only asking that as an example of the questions we -should- be asking. I'm not looking to invoke Poli. Sci meets World History meets Philosophy debate.

Well certainly the U.S. has imposed on other countries sovereignty but usually we a very good reason to like Hitler, Hirohito, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. So, yes if your an a-hole your life is going to be difficult. Certainly in the great game we have interjected our policy into regions but to say ISIS is better for the world than the U.S. is just crazy.

Well, and this is what I mean...so you managed to find a college kid who did an unofficial survey on the mall (no telling how many interviews he cut, right?) to conclude the opinion of an entire educational institution which was then picked up by grown adults at Fox News who KNEW this was slanted, yellow journalism, but chose to give it a wider audience in order to stir up their rabid, anti-intellectual base.

And people jump at the bait.

I'm turning this off for the night and taking another few days off. Ridiculous. We are better than this. I swear we are.

CPT (Join to see) I think I have gotten to know you a bit on here so I take the vote down as a sign that you disapprove and are not trying to attack me. No hard feelings and I am glad that you feel free to express yourself as that is what this site is all about. I did not mean it to turn into a rant, but rather to see if we would search deep down and are objective to see what you feel is the biggest threat. I see a few have said that we are the bigger threat given political correctness and putting politics before lives, etc. I did not intend for this to be a bash against a school or students.

CPT Ann Wolfer,

I remember I was station in Vilseck, Germany and was visiting Nuremberg, Germany. I was enjoying lunch and I struck up a conversation with a group of college age kids and low and behold it was a group of students from Harvard on a summer travel. They invited me to have lunch with them, I had not yet told them I was in the Army. The topic came around and I said I was not on travel but stationed there in Germany. You could see their disgust in their face.

She actually asked me, Why would I join the Army, given what America has done to the rest of the world. I looked at her and told her that it was a family tradition and that I was proud to be in the Army.

I state this because this is a common theme with Ivy League Schools. I don't agree that it is a sound bit, because if you read and watch it is conducted by a school journalist not "Fox News" Obviously you're biased against Fox? Just because Fox news brought the story forward doesn't mean it isn't true, tilted maybe, the same goes with the obviously for President Obama news media outlets of NBC, MSNBC, CBS, PBS etc, etc

Ivy league schools do not contribute in high numbers to our accessions of military officers, this to me is a sad state of affairs considering most of these Ivy League people will be in charge of companies or our government.

All discussion our welcome, even if I don't agree with them. Even if they're presented by Fox news, PBS etc. etc.

Maam, sorry but your comments are very contradictory. Not only do you insult many of us with the anti-intellectual verbage but you also allege the OP is a bashing, which is a bashing in and of itself.

SSG Redondo, that is a very pithy comment! Although if you follow her other threads you will notice that CPT Wolfer doesn't like to be corrected in a non-tactful manner. (CPT Wolfer I'm kidding, and mean no disrespect) Given her comment on uniform correction and how to properly correct a superior. CPT Wolfer, just so you know, I don't think your comment was anti-intellectual, but I do believe it was biased.
