Typhoon Nanmadol slams into Japan with record breaking rain

Typhoon Nanmadol made landfall near Kagoshima city on Sunday evening with winds of 110 miles per hour, the equivalent of a strong Category 2 hurricane. According to The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), its central pressure was 935 millibars at landfall, making it the fourth-strongest typhoon on record to make landfall in Japan since the agency began collecting the data in 1951.

Lt Col Charlie Brown I remember getting hit with a typhoon when I was in transit on Okinawa. Us crazy Marines had this idea of going to a bar to wait it out. Stepping outside for a second was like stepping out under Niagara Falls! Drenched to the bone in a second flat. We didn't make it to the bar. (By the way - I didn't drink, I only went to help my buddies get back to base when they were too drunk to make it by themselves!)
