That's ironic. I was actually just looking into this. Thanks for the post Sir! You might be able to answer some questions. I am an E-5 Combat Medic in the Army with 5 years time in service. Do you know the first steps I should take to transition to the Coast Guard?

First, do you want clinical or non clinical in uscg? Also, would you possibly want to consider asking for an interservice transfer at all though of course I'm not advising it by any means merely noting that such things exist, nothing more. Whether you'd be deemed suitable or allowed I obviously have no clue certainly please understand that. Also you'd have to go through full uscg training which likely differs considerably from army of course being seagoing by all means I'd think.

Ive read uscg has its own PAs though they like the NOAA commissioned corps I'd read mainly use usphs commissioned corps clinicians for the most part. You might look into a multi service PA program I've read may exist in TX possibly at ft Sam Houston or Brooks AFB. I'd also read of a new program multiservice to encourage enlisted who want to go for medicine. Look up the usuhs notmusphs im speaking of USUHS med school with its nursing public health and pH.d. biomed progs near the NIH and Bethesda naval med CTR as well. Usphs is allowed warrants I'd read by law though they've never used any I think.

For now you might ask if you could participate in uscg aux auxmed while where you are though I have no idea if you'd be allowed. However as I said that's primcipally for civln clinicians as I'd said from what is read. Depending on your age you could also look at the uscg officer program website. Uscg aux has something called AIM to try to help those with an interest in uscg go that way and to the uscg academy there are also the sevl maritime colleges and the uscg margrad program as well. However usphs if you want clinical attached to uscg would seem to me to be seriously worth exploring. Try to elaborate more to me as to how much college and or other clinical training you've had and explain more of your background and or interests and or objectives and ill try to explain more so far as I might be able when I have a free moment, OK?
