U.S. debate on Ukraine contentious at best

The reality is that the Ukrainians have lost this war because of their own stupidity and from following advice from the Hawks that really don't care how many Ukrainians die. Zelensky has repeatedly insisted on strongpoint defenses in the major cities that have just turned into a slaughter house for the Ukrainians.
The Word has come down from Blinken that NATO membership is off the board. The military commander General Valery Zaluzhny is now talking directly with the Russians and supposedly Zelensky is being pressured to take a permanent vacation to his Villa in Italy.
The real question is what will the Russians want as a settlement. My best guess is all of the four Oblast that they currently occupy the majority of today and are predominately ethnic Russian. They might insist on the traditionally Russian Odessa. OTOH, I haven't seen any real evidence that the Russians want the part of Ukraine that isn't ethnic Russian. The population of the ethnic Ukrainians inside that country has crashed and no one wants to be responsible for reconstruction.
