Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that we officially announced our intent to send Marines to South Vietnam. We had been conducting special forces and other black missions in Vietnam and the surrounding nations of some time by this point.
Those were much different days when we could send an intent to send our forces somewhere and we received a response three days later informing us that they approved our intent.

Man I remember that but we had Marines up at Pleiku a few years before '65..I left 1st Radio Co before they landed in Pleiku but I knew most of the NCOs & Officers ..

This web site is the continuing story of a small group of Marines who found themselves assigned to the First Boots On The Ground

During that short span of time in Marine Corps history, the 1st Radio Co blazed a new trail in being the first United States Marines to put boots on the ground in Vietnam in 1962 and providing direct intelligence support to U.S. and Republic of Vietnam combat forces.

Go to the History link for a more complete history of the 1st Composite Radio Company. Since that time 1st Radio has evolved to 1st Radio Battalion, and has proudly been part of the current war in Iraq. The link on the left "Brothers at the Gates" is to honor and give remembrance to those members of the 1st Composite Radio Company who have passed away; take time to learn about them.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - OK Mark...just Google "1st Composite Radio Company" and you can read the history of this unit ... Fire away any questions you might have & I may be able to answer them?? Or go to TWS and search by the same title for Marine Corps Units..
