Based on what I know from Police work and research most people have zero idea what its really like.

We had an active shooter last year here at WBAMC/EPVA. It was scary as hell because once the initial word went out that there was an active shooter, no information followed. Plus it was a bit scary not having anything to fight back with....

As an old infantry soldier....I was trained to move to the sounds of the guns. While I understand the why behind recent videos and other "Active Shooter" training, I will have to internally fight my desire to take the fight to the shooter.

LTC Thomas Tennant - Problem with taking the fight to him is that if LE is already responding, they might shoot YOU instead. Bunkering down is okay, but keep staff informed of the situation. Also, not having a weapon to defend in place with sucks.
