Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on May 29, 1864 the Federal Army of the Potomac and Confederate Army of Northern Virginia were jockeying for strategic and tactical position advantages in Virginia.
The CSA generally had the advantage of interior lines of communication throughout much of the war even though they were disadvantaged in troop numbers and technology capabilities.
