While a $435,000 fine might seem like a lot of money and be more than our SGLI for a soldier it is pocket change to a huge aviation company. Fines are put in place to deter crime and to influence regulation compliance. This will change nothing.

Someone should go to jail for such a safety violation of aviation safety standards

SSG Jesse Piippo It was a 747 so had it led to disaster, it had the potential to not only kill roughly 300 passengers, it could have cause a huge problem on the ground. Though the work was done, the verification was what they are being nailed for. Still just seems UAL cannot stop shooting themselves in the foot.
