This is so so very sad. However I must add if this was happening in the halls of congress and the senate they would be appropriating billions to find out why. This is unacceptable.

Peace!

Nearly seventy percent are veterans who are fifty or older. I wonder if those veterans are in the VA system. I would think many may not be, and they may not have the resources to seek help. It is still a national tragedy.

Was not aware of the 70% factor. My guess would be that most are in the system and believe said system has failed them. you are right David, it is a national tragedy.

Blaming the system failure on someone is not the fix. Although I'll say it seems as though making the system better never really got headlines until the Phoenix tragedy story. However sometimes it takes headlines to get folks attention. But Veterans dying and receiving sub par treatment is not the headlines I want to hear. For those civilians out there many never heard of the VA until the Phoenix story. Unfortunately the system has failed the nation and the Veterans basically because it was unimportant to the Politicians. People need to wake up and realize the elected officials can and should do more. However it's our responsibility to hold them accountable. If we don't who else will. As Veterans this is our fight to assure not only the system improves for us also for our future generations of Veterans. So imagine this even if one current or ex politician was committing suicide a day. Just one a day not 22. How fast do you all think Congress and the Senate would react? I think they would panic assemble a panel of experts and spend billions of dollars to find a solution to the problem. Because they are more concerned about themselves and their colleagues than us Veterans. Every life is important but I ask are theirs more important than Military members or Veterans? I surely as heck think not. The difference is they control the purse strings. I must say this is a national tragedy and it's unfair to the Veteran community and extremely unjust to the ones who have lost love ones in the past and future. It makes me angry we are not expendable. ALL VETERANS LIVES MATTER!

Peace!
