This is a good idea. Why wait for super expensive 5th Gens to get there when lower cost jets can accomplish what is needed. Variety is the spice of life!

By the time they get done with milspecs and change orders, it will be available at twice the contracted price in twenty years and will gain weight over that time. Beware the military industrial complex.

MCPO Roger Collins this is one of the points I make with people in the discussion about new administration giving pushback on the costs of new birds. There hasn't been pushback before, therfore the cost just kept going up because the invoice was never questioned.
