Same story as 1943. The Germans built very sophisticated systems, the Russians built inexpensive, easy to use systems, but out built the Germans by an order of magnitude. And the bottom line is the same, they can defend their backyard very well, and even go next door, but that's about it.

Agree! hillter wanted the "best" weapons, not necessarily the most. His R&D budget far exceeded manufacturing existing tech. It's been said if he had waited a little longer to invade his neighbors, he would have had enough armament that it would have been extremely difficult to stop him.

A couple of observations:
1. Almost all of the weapon systems highlighted in the article are defensive in nature - hardly the stuff of a boogeyman who will overrun Europe. What we know of those systems is that they seem very capable... of shooting down civilian jetliners.
2. Russia's real capabilities that are a threat are its cyber and EW capabilities. Those would likely create all sorts of chaos if stuff went sideways. I am not worried at all about their submarines.
3. Cheap does not equal will work. Quantity has a quality all its own, and the Russians have a crap ton of old tanks. I wonder if we have enough munitions to kill them all if the stuff got real.
4. Russia's economy simply can't support a 5th Gen air wing or modern Navy. Air Power is what would stop them, and I am concerned we do not have enough of it to gain air supreamacy.

Not if there are lots of them.
See M-4 Shermans vs German Tigers or T-34s vs German Panthers.
Or lots of Liberty ships vs the best submarines money could buy.
