RP Members what are your thoughts on the Glock G19 to replace the M9?
Weren’t we just talking about how the military can cut down on their budget without compromising the security of the nation during this campaign? There’s an opportunity on the table right now to do just that, assuming that the massive federal bureaucracy can figure out how to get out of their own way. As military.com reports this week, the US Army is in need of a replacement for their standard sidearm. They’ve been using the cold war era M9 for thirty years now and are looking for something more modern, but the normal procurement process has them tied up in knots.

I carries the m-9 pretty mich my whole career as a Security Forces member. Ive also carries the glock on the civilian side for a number of years. The glock is far superior and is probably the best handgun for military usage considering that it handles well in just about any situation/climate/ etc.

As a few others have stated - the transition to the Glock is a no-brainer, if that's the path GEN Milley pursues. We already use it in certain units with success - they will just have to reinforce proper training on the Glock and train more frequently for those who will be carrying one.
