Talk about fake news. Everything coming out of Beijing is manipulated so this isn't surprising at all.

Shouldn't surprise them. Beijing has been controlling information for as long as we can remember. They've just been allowing more in during the last few decades because they are realizing what good capitalism can do for their economy. But too much info in the minds of the people is a bad thing for a Communist government.
