Being in a position of leadership for many of my 23 years in the Navy, I think mass punishment for the actions of one is just plan wrong and very poor leadership! Not to mention what it does for Esprit de Corps, and crew morale! JMHO!

Concur, major over reaction to a bad situation. The Navy has always treated their personnel in a very paternalistic manner, especially the junior enlisted. I suppose the other services are much the same.

Never leads to a good end punishing those who follow the rules.

I wonder how much of the bars' profit almost tank? How much perishable alcohol had to be thrown away from being in storage away from the sales floor.

"Alright Marines/Sailors/Soldiers! We gotta take care of all this beer before it goes skunky! Drink up people! Looks like we only got a few days before the expiration date!"

I'm sure someone in business begged for the ban to be lifted because they were feeling the negative effects. It will go the same for their economy if the US pulls out of that country altogether. They wouldn't know what to do with themselves and their extra stock.

I spent 18 months in Okinawa in 1970-71....all the beer was skunky and Expiration dates on the beer in Okinawa??? When did that start??? I am sure the bars were not worried about the alcohol as much as their cut for the "Female Sociability"!

CWO3 Dennis M. - I was talking about the beer that is sold in the PX/BX. The stuff you see in the stores state-side. And of course, the "Buy-Me-Drinky" bars took the biggest hit for the month.
