Another Cuba in the Western Hemisphere. How charming. Just what we need. My knee jerk reaction is to wonder what the hell President Trump is thinking of. But on further reflection, how is it right and proper for America to help enrich a dictator. No, the Cuban embargo didn't help the long suffering people of that island, but it also didn't help Castro. If we had restored trade relations with Cuba, does anyone really think it would have helped the people of that island? No, it would have only provided Castro with more resources to enslave them. Sadly, those who might have led a revolution against that dictator merely took advantage of the proximity of the island to America and fled. Venezuela is a very different matter. The people there have no such easy exit and they must turn on their dictator one day if they have any hope of living in a decent nation. When they do, at least they won't have to battle a tyrant enriched and armed with American dollars.
