Personally... I don't give a shit. The turd lasted a whopping 4 days before jumping to his death. 4 freaking days. You don't even meet your drill instructors until the end of the 1st week. If he couldn't handle being called a name once without wanting to kill himself, I don't know how he expected to last the remaining 12 weeks.
Boot camp is breaking you down to build you back up. Hell, as the oldest recruit in my platoon, I had my own ditty.
For a little knowledge, we have a Marine called the Grand Old Man of the Marine Corps for serving 54 years. His name is Archibald Henderson. This is something we learn in boot camp.
My platoon learned something different.
Drill Instructor: OLD MAN OF THE MARINE CORPS
Platoon: SIR, OLD MAN OF THE MARINE CORPS IS RECRUIT GOOLSBY!!!
I literally heard this every single day. As a road guard, I was also given the nickname Fat Speedbump because I wasn't worth slowing down for if I were in the middle of the road.
I was also brought to 4th battalion (female unit) because I wasn't manly enough to train with the male Marines.
That's just a small sample of what I encountered in my entire stay. He lasted 4 freaking days. So I am not going to shed a tear that someone was so weak willed that he literally killed himself because he got called a name and did I little IT.
