A big, beautiful boat, but as I've said before, in the world of big boats, carriers (even this one) are relatively small.

As I've always said, from my Air Force perspective, just another target. Thing is this is a target with teeth. Not like the big ship concept of the 30s when the battleships ruled, but all they had were 16" guns. This guy can reach out an touch just about anyone and, for now at least, defeat anything coming after it.

As long as our enemies stay non-nuclear in a confrontation. The first thought that occurred to me was North Korea, ballistic missile with a warhead. Not sure what defenses they have for that.

Didn't they have the same thing prior to the Cole? What about in US ports?
For that matter, what about silkworm (or equivalent, i'm old) in a narrow channel like Hormuz, or Malacca, or Bab al-Mandab

Vividly remember concerns about Iranian speed boats when I was involved with directing Earnest Will escorts through the Straits of Hormuz, but concern was for the tankers, not warships. Of course that was pre Cole but still a speedboat is probably not going to inflict that much damage to a carrier, even if it got through defenses.
