That is interesting news SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that VA hospitals compare favorably on deaths, readmission rates. As an ORSA I was curious about the study. Since study analyzed claims for men aged 65 and older treated at 104 VA hospitals and for male Medicare patients treated at 1,513 non-VA hospitals nationwide. Each comparison involved at least 7,900 patients it excludes all deaths of VA patents under 65 in VA hospitals. It would be very interesting to see a study comparing 40 year old and older in VA Hospitals and 40 years old in other hospitals that are not restricted to subsidized care like Medicare and Medicaid.

LTC Stephen F. great depiction and compare/contrast on the age groups, now you entice my membrane to take a closer analysis of the data provided by VA.

Good to see a positive post about the VA with all of the different negative things going on the past few months.

CPT (Join to see) I agree it is high,
At VA hospitals, death rates were marginally lower after a heart attack — 13.5 percent vs 13.7 percent; and for heart failure — 11.4 percent vs 11.9 percent. They were slightly higher for pneumonia — 12.6 percent vs. 12.2 percent at non-VA hospitals.
Readmission rates ranged from about 17 percent to 25 percent for the three conditions and were highest at VA hospitals, but only by about 1 percentage point or less.

I was hitting more on the readmission rates of up to 25% more than the death rates.
