VA May Be Forced to Pay Billions in Veterans’ ER Bills After Court Ruling

COL David Turk: One issue which hasn't been raised in this whole mess is when Medicare covered part of the ER bill, then VA said it wouldn't cover the rest. My husband is covered by VA (not a retired military/disabled vet but has PH so is a level 3) and we had to go to the ER when we were on vacation and no where near a VA. His Medicare paid for part of the ER visit. He submitted everything else to the VA and payment for anything else not covered by Medicare was denied. VA states if Medicare covered it, then they are not responsible for the rest. SIGH!
