I was lucky. My doctor at Raymond Murphy kept nagging me to get a check-up. When the ob/gyn doctor called and told me I had cancer, my pcp came to my home, held me while I cried, brought me information about the type of cancer I had, and went with me to the UNMH Cancer Center for my first appt. I've been cancer-free for more than two years now. The ER there and urology dept. saved my life two years earlier when I went in with a backache, which turned out to be sepsis. I am grateful for all the VA Hospital here in Albuquerque has done for me these past four years.
