They need to read the law that identifies what constitutes an American veteran
Because everyone that fought in the civil war is a veteran.
it was not only whites that fought and died Under the confederate battle flag

I concur. In the end, I believe many Confederate Soldiers wanted the United States to be restored. Very few were slave owners, and the Confederate Arm, ironically, was the first Army in North America to integrate blacks and whites into the same units. Some Confederate commissioned officers were actually Mexican. The Confederacy, in many ways, was more socially advanced than the North. I'll bet the average Southern white really didn't give a damn about slavery. The racism began during the reconstruction era.

Gen Stan Watti CSA The last confederate to surrender , he was a full blood Cherokee , And the other facts the NAACP refuses to hear about are the 2,100 black slave owners in the south who owned 19,000 slaves , they were also know for they're brutal treatment of sll dlaves , white, black or native

Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forrest of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War was the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. This man disrespected the Confederate veterans and their battle flag. Blacks and black soldiers did not get respect until our lifetime. The Union Army won the war, but our civilian leadership lost by letting hatred rule the South.

I think it is great to honor war heroes, but not the likes of Forrest.

Why march on MLK day? Why not February 7 when the first state ceded or 11 March when the Confederate Constitution was created. Maybe march on 9 April when Lee surrendered. Patriotism is used as a blanket for to many things.

Forrest was the one responsible for the hatred of the Confederate flag.Over the years the KKK and other hate groups has burned in American consciousness the confederate flag as a symbol of evil. A Good example in comparison is the swastika was used by the Nazis in WW2. The swastika is a universal symbol just about every human culture had it in both the old and new world civilizations. However in 13 years of Nazi terror, rule, genocide and war the swastika is now a symbol of evil. Well that's what has happened to the Confederate flag. We need to learn history and put things into proper perspective and learn what has happened in that history and teach people the truth and go from there.

The American Civil War was a period of God's judgment on America. History classes in our public schools often point to the South as the villain, but America's transgressions, both in the North and South were even greater than that of devaluing our fellow human beings. Soldiers on both sides believed God was on their side. It was His will that the Union triumphed and that our nation was able to remain one. Sadly, we Americans still do evil in the sight of our Lord and our nation remains divided in many ways. Every day, I pray our nation never suffers such judgment as it did from 1861-1865.

I am no history or legal expert, but I believe the flag is actually the property of the current United States Army that won the Civil War. The Union Army won the rights to all the spoils of the Confederate Army, to include its battle flag. Yes, at some future date, our current Army can reactivate any numbered unit of the legacy Confederate Army and reissue the old battle flag, but I doubt this will ever happen.

The Confederate Flag, unless reissued to a unit by the United States Army, belongs only in museums and private cemeteries of Soldiers who died honorably for the Confederacy. Sadly, the battle flag was misused by hate groups, otherwise, legacy units, filled with personnel of all races, would be able to proudly use it to this day. I wish all Americans could respect the Confederate Battle flag for what it was in our history, and not use it in hate, make an arrogant point, arouse, or upset others.

LOL! You need to read your bible. God loves slavery and allows it. It is even allowed in both the Old and New testaments. The Old testament: Exodus 21:2-11. Leviticus 25:44-46. Deuteronomy 20:10-15, 24:7. The New testament: Ephesians 6:5-9. 1 Timothy 6:1-2. Colossians 4:1. Matthew 18:23-25, 24:51 God loves killing children the most read it in your bible! the flood how many little babies and small innocent children drowned while God save's a drunk and his family? When the Pharaoh was going to let Moses and the Israelites go but God harden his heart so he could kill all the first born. Exodus 12:29-30. When children made fun of Elisha God brought two she bears to kill 42 of the children. 2 Kings 2:23-24. God sends 12000 warriors to Jabesh-gilead to kill every man, woman, and child. Judges 21:10-11. Moses under the orders of God sent an army to kill every man, woman, and child to Midian. Numbers 31:7-18. Joshua and the fall of Jericho was grand God ordered every man, woman, child, and even even livestock killed. But God saved a Prostitute and her family because she harbored Israelite spies. Joshua 6:1-27. In all these cases God allowed the Israelite men to keep young virgins as slaves. Seems like they are fitting in right with God!
