Actually this emotional support animal and fake service dog thing is getting out of hand in some locations. There should be laws governing service animals and true trained emotional support animals. They should receive special training and have to be certified. There have been instances of people buying fake service or support animal vests online and putting t on their misbehaving dogs so they can take them everywhere. My older sister who is permanently disabled is a true trined service animal. That dog doesn’t bark or do anything without permission. I’ve seen people with lap dogs with service dog vests on poop in the store. My sister’s dog would explode before he would poop inside a building.

I have a emotional support dog, I also have him registered with a service that has a good amount of information. I will try and get it on this page. I also have to get the letter from my psychologist each year stating that he continues to be a part of his recovery. This is a Federal Law and the weight of the animals are not a issue. I am not sure what I'd do without Buster, I know losing him would cause me to think about things that helps my cope with.

I am glad you got the dog! Wish you didn't need to re-submit paperwork every year, I think that's BS.

The vet may be stretching the system; there are a lot of emotional support dogs out there, a few chickens and a pig or two which provide great comfort to their owners but also violate home ownership and property rights which give people a place to escape dogs that bark for prolonged periods and lunge at Dachshunds. If prolonged barking doesn't bother you, just move to our neighborhood and live here. The politicians need to come up with a stricted definition of emotional support but don't feel such laws will take priority over property ownership rights.

I have truly been helped by Buster always in my life. When I was hospitalized 3 years ago, after 10 days in the hospital because of a medicine mixed up only to find his decomposing body, I had to have my Adult Protive Services
