If I were to receive a nickel for every question people think we need to ask patients during admission, I would be a rich man. Two things nurses need to do to provide great care is 1) listen to their patients and 2) take the time to learn the cultures of different patients. How am I going to approach a retired CSM verses a female patient that grew up in Spain is night and day difference and much of that can be learned by listening to them. These are things I did not do so well as a nursing student or new RN many years ago.
